Alexander Wang

Alexander Wang's pre-spring and spring 2011 bags have hit stores. Most of them are the same classic silhouettes redone in fresh colors and patent leather for spring. Someone please get me one for Hanukkah!

thin line

By now, I'm sure all 3 of my readers are pretty aware of my penchant for rainbow, dip-dyed, and ombre hair. Hanelli Mustaparta has just changed my life with this picture:

She dyed her part with liquid eyeliner! Brilliant! But I'll one up you, Hanelli. Streekers hair dye washes out the next day and comes in a tube with a wand like lip gloss. I found mine on sale at Urban Outfitters. Cant't wait to try it, I'll be sure to warn you if I end up looking like a fool.

Refresh

Last week, in one of my classes I watched a presentation by Pantone, which is the leading color company that caters to the fashion, design, and car industries, as well as others. They formulate colors and are essentially the universal language of color. Companies use Pantone to ensure that if they are ordering 6,000 t-shirts from Taiwan, they can just forward them the 6 digit Pantone code, that correlates with the exact color, for which they also supply dye formulas; o that every color is exact. They showed us a lot of mood and color boards, because the company also does color prediction. The color of the year is turquoise, so I was inspired to create my own.

A Single Man

A Single Man has become my favorite movie. Yes, there are lots but never have I seen a movie so visually stunning, tragically beautiful, and truthful. I was engulfed by both the film and the book, and lose myself every time I watch it. On top of all that the depiction of 1960s Los Angeles is beyond unbelievable and always leaves me breathless.

sweet sixties

I draw so much inspiration from the 1960s. I devour every morsel. Every trend is perfection- Mod, Bohemian, polished, minis, maxis, white lipstick, go-go boots- the list goes on and on. Some of my absolute favorite style icons are were 1960s starlets, who are still so iconic today. Everyone from Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin, Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis, Charlotte Rampling, Nico, to Edie Sedgwick has had a long-lasting impression on fashion today.

The Fall 2010 Guess campaign was particularly reminiscent of the era:
